A great example of one of the projects Curing Cancer is supporting is the ‘Coventry’ Vaccine.
The ‘Coventry’ vaccine has gone through pre-clinical development and has received full regulatory approval for clinical trials. Stocks of the vaccine have been manufactured and the clinical partners identified, allowing first stage clinical trials to commence imminently but only on a small number of pancreatic cancer patients. These trials are primarily intended to determine optimum dosage rates and will be followed by effectiveness trials.
Further opportunities have been identified which could increase the number of patients to be treated and the extension of the trial to other cancer types including lung, liver and ovarian cancer, and leukaemia. The Trust is seeking to promote and support this trial extension.
